What exactly is e-invoicing ?

E-invoicing doesn't just mean an invoice sent by email. It refers to a structured or hybrid format (Factur-X, UBL, CII) that allows data to be read automatically by computer systems — including the tax authorities.

💡

Key point: A standard PDF, however well designed, will no longer be enough to meet legal obligations. A standardized format, sent via a registered platform, is required.

Who is affected ?

The reform applies to all companies established in France and subject to VAT, regardless of size — micro-businesses, SMEs, large groups. It covers B2B transactions (between businesses). B2C transactions and exports are subject to separate e-reporting obligations.

⚠️

Beware of misconceptions: even if you're a small marine business, you are affected as soon as you are subject to VAT.

Key milestone

September 1, 2026

Issuance requirement - large companies & mid-sized enterprises

Large companies and mid-sized enterprises must issue their invoices in a structured electronic format.

September 1, 2027

Issuance requirement — SMEs & micro-businesses

All SMEs, small businesses, and micro-businesses will have to issue their invoices in a structured format via a registered platform.

How does it actually work ?

An electronic invoice goes through several automated steps:

1

You create your invoice in Nooti.cc

2

Nooti.cc generates an invoice in Factur-X format

3

The invoice is sent to a Registered Platform

4

The Registered Platform forwards it to your client and to the French tax authorities

5

Your client receives it in their own management tool

💡

With Nooti.cc , steps 2, 3, and 4 are entirely automatic. You only see step 1 — the rest happens behind the scenes.

How much does e-invoicing cost ?

It's the question everyone asks — and the answer varies enormously from one provider to another. Many software vendors and accounting firms charge per invoice issued: a few tens of cents each, sometimes on top of a subscription to a platform, an add-on module, or setup fees. Over several hundred invoices a year, the total adds up fast.

Often elsewhere

0,10 € à 0,50 €

per invoice issued

  • Per-unit cost, scaling with your activity
  • Separate subscription to a registered platform
  • E-invoicing module sold as an option
  • Setup or onboarding fees

With Nooti.cc

0 €

regardless of your invoice volume

  • No cost per invoice issued or received
  • Registered Platform included in your subscription
  • No module or third-party software to buy
  • No setup fees
💡

Your subscription price doesn't change. E-invoicing is included in the Essentiel and Intégralplans, at no extra cost, with no volume tiers and no per-invoice charges.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on your software. Some vendors will offer an update, but this may involve additional fees, a third-party module to connect, or a complex migration. With Nooti.cc, compliance is already built in natively, at no extra cost and with no additional tools.
No, it's free. Some competing vendors and accounting firms charge several tens of cents per invoice issued, sometimes with an additional subscription to a registered platform. At Nooti.cc, issuing, receiving, and transmitting your electronic invoices is included in your subscription, at no extra cost and with no volume limit: your plan's price stays the same whether you issue 10 or 10,000 invoices a year.
A Registered Platform is a state-certified intermediary responsible for receiving, transmitting, and archiving electronic invoices between businesses and the French tax authorities. It guarantees the authenticity, integrity, and traceability of invoices. Nooti.cc is connected to a Registered Platform — you don't need to choose or manage one yourself.
The tax authorities have approved 3 e-invoice formats, all compliant with the European standard EN 16931: Factur-X, UBL, and CII. Nooti.cc chose Factur-X to transmit your invoices. It's a hybrid format: a standard PDF, readable by you and your client, with a structured XML file embedded inside that can be processed automatically by management systems and by the tax authorities. So you keep an invoice that looks like an invoice, while being fully compliant with the reform.
E-invoicing obligations only concern B2B transactions. For B2C transactions (individuals), you are not required to issue invoices in Factur-X format. However, e-reporting obligations apply: you will need to transmit certain data to the tax authorities. Nooti.cc handles both cases.
The bill provides for fines in the event of failure to meet issuance or transmission obligations. Beyond the fines, non-compliance can delay payment of your invoices if your clients require receipt via a Registered Platform.
